What was imperial china, japan view on gay love? Also cheati

I'm just little curious in imerial china, and japan, and in the royal courts what was that society view at the time on gay love, gay realitionships, and married couples having affairs

I'm not sure about Japan, but I know in imperial china, if you were cheating on your spouse, the townspeople would lock you up, and march you down the streets where people would throw garbage at you. Then they would drown you and the person you were cheating on, into the river. And as for gay love, it was not accepted in Asian society. That doesn't mean there weren't any gay couples, it just meant that they had to be extremely secretive about it since most people did not agree with it.

Hope this helped! I can't say my explanation is historically plausible, but I when you watch enough Asian soaps, this is usually what happens.

I'm Chinese, plus my mom likes to watch Asian soaps and punishing couples for cheating is a very common occurrence in Chinese dramas.
